Science, being safe with the bunsen burner/.

Aim:

I want to use the Bunsen burner safely. 


Method: 


Bunsen Burner. - ppt video online download


Equipment:

  • Lighter/fire match.
  • Heat proof mat.
  • Bunsen burner.
  • Safety glasses


Instructions:

  • Get equipment.
  • Put glasses
  • Connect the gas hose to the gas tap.
  • Turn the collar to close the air hole.
  • Slightly light the match or the lighter and hold it over the Bunsen burner and then turn the gas tap on.

Hands on fire.

  Aim:

I want to find out how to set myself on fire safely 

Method:

Equipment.

  • Large container of water.
  • Detergent (liquid soap.)
  • Gas.
  • Lighter.
  • Safety glasses

Instructions.

  1. Grab the equipment.
  2. fill the container about two cm up with water.
  3. Get your soap and put heaps of liquid soap in the water and gently mix it around.
  4. Connect the hose to the gas tap.
  5. turn on the gas and bubble it into the water.
  6. Roll your sleeves up past your elbow.
  7. Wet your hands and arms with water.
  8. Scoop only the bubbles with two hands.
  9. Light the bubbles.

Inferring

 What is inferring inferring is basically reading in between the lines,

below is a photo from a book that I read and Asafo on the left and Noah on the right are arguing about going out of the bunker after the nuclear blast form two weeks Noah said that they should wait till they run out of food, but Asafo said that they should go out of the bunker now instead of waiting till they run out of food because they only have a couple of days to find food and water otherwise they would die of starvation or thirst, this means they did not agree on the same thing.

Safety in the lab

 Rules

  1. You must follow the instructions given by the teacher.
  2. You must enter the lab without being asked to.
  3. Report any breakages.
  4. Shoes must be worn at all times.
  5. Do not eat or drink in the lab.
  6. If you spill something let the teacher know.
  7. Always wash your hands after experimenting.
  8. A heat proof mat should always be used when heating.
  9. If in doubt ask the teacher.
  10. Never taste or smell chemicals.

Other rules

1. Liquids do not go into the bins, because it could

2. Solids do not go down the sink because it could clog.

3. Wear safety glasses when you do experiments,

because something could explode in your face.

4. Put your chair under the desk, and stand at the bench

when you do experiments, because someone could be holding some chemicals and you could trip up and all the chemicals will go on your face.

5. Bags do not go on the desks, because it could get chemicals spilt on your bag and it could get 

6. Long hair should be tied back, because your hair could get caught on fire and you will be bold or die.

7. Do not smell the chemicals, because you could poison yourself and die.

8. Walk, don’t run around the room, because you could fall or slip or trip over and hit your head on something.

9. Do not eat or drink in the lab, because you could get chemicals in your food or drink.
