Method:

Ingredients:

• Ginger.(source of sugar)
• warm water.
• yeast.
• cup
• spoon

Instructions:

1. Wash your hands.
2. get the equipment.
3. Put the 1 tablespoon of ginger in the cup
4. half fill the cup with warm water.
5. add one teaspoon of yeast.
6. mix it all together.
7. leave it ferment for 1 week.
8. after one week taste it.

Bacteria around our school

 Aim:

I want to find out what type of bacteria are around our school.

Research:

Equipment:

• Cotton buds
• Marker pen
• Agar plates.
•  tape.

Instructions:

• Use a marker pen to write your name and location on the lid of the agar plate lid
• Wash your hands.
• Wet the cotton buds and swab the surface.
• swab something of your choice.
• Gently swab the agar plate.
• Tape around the edges of the agar plate.
• wait for a few days.

 Rules

1. You must follow the instructions given by the teacher.
2. You must enter the lab without being asked to.
3. Report any breakages.
4. Shoes must be worn at all times.
5. Do not eat or drink in the lab.
6. If you spill something let the teacher know.
7. Always wash your hands after experimenting.
8. A heat proof mat should always be used when heating.
9. If in doubt ask the teacher.
10. Never taste or smell chemicals.

6. Long hair should be tied back, because your hair could get caught on fire and you will be bold or die.

7. Do not smell the chemicals, because you could poison yourself and die.

8. Walk, don’t run around the room, because you could fall or slip or trip over and hit your head on something.

9. Do not eat or drink in the lab, because you could get chemicals in your food or drink.
